HP(India)is a holy cow where company evern doesn't check whether employee has stepped in a company or drinking in a pub(I heard this from one employee). Many managers come around 10:30 in the morning and pack their bags by 5 PM dot.
Milk it to fullest extent.

Hi Shreya,

Current ctc, 3 LPA, IBM agreed to give me 25% hike along with promotion to sr.software eng. 25% hike will come around 3.8 LPA. I asked for 5 LPA in HP, anyway, the post i applied for is Sr.SE only.

What about yours, i will be happy if you let me know.

Regards,
Surya.

Hi Surya,

Shreya

Hi Shreya,

Here is your data:

1 technical round 1 1/2 HR (Very Tough) after that programme manager round 1 HR (Tough), asked questions on designing and OOAD, and HR round 1 HR (even tougher) will dig you down about details about leaving of previous company.

And, where are you working now? In which company you are working?

Regards,
Surya.

Hi Shreya,

HP Interview consists of three rounds.

1. Technical Round for 1 1/2 hour, mostly on Core Java, JSP, Servlets and Hibernate. Very tricky questions, very difficult questions, you really need to have good understanding of concepts, and especially behind the scenes scenarios like how a connecion pool maintains connections behind the curtains etc, and how you create an immutable class like String. etc.

2. Programme manager round for 1 HR, mostly will be on designing side, he will tell you a scenario, and he wants you to design a system or how you proceed on that, you need to explain him on your architecture, view, daos etc etc. I explained from 40 minutes, as i have some designing experience.

3. HR round for 1 hour, mostly on "why you are looking for job" subject, convincing him on this is very difficult as he is very tricky and confusive. You should be very careful while talking with HR. Confidence plays great role.

All rounds are very very very friendly, so confidence plays great role.

Do you want me to refer you for this job there? I just got call from programmer manager, and he expalined me the kind of work I am going to do there, I may join there by march first week.

Surya,

It depends on your resume. Mostly HP technical interview will be based on skill set you mentioned in the resume. HP interview wont be that much tough as the interview goes based what you mentioned in the resume.

That's true. Because of traffica jams, time differences with other countries HP, Bangalore encourages flex work hours. You can adjust your timings based on your project and other team members. Also the work pressure will be moderate.

Hi Surya,

Cool.

Actually yesterday my consultant has called and asked abt IBM offer letter. She said tht she will contact the IBM guys and revert back.

One more thing is I have another offer from Satyam also.Yet to get the offer letter. But the offer is confirmed.

Iam simultaneously trying for other companies also.Only constraint is my preffered location is Hyderabad.

Getting a heavy offer (mean, with heavy hike) some time creates lock. Suppose, if we want to quit from that job, it will be difficult to get another offer, since we are alerady getting paid very high. Does anyone have any views on this?

Hi,

Yesterday, I got a call from consultant who represnets for IBM, and asked me whether I had received any letter. I said NO. And she told me that, she will get back to me after contacting IBM. WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON IN IBM, why do they conduct interviews and PDM rounds if they don't want to give offer (seems to be).

BTW, any idea about IBM verification and background checks?? I don't have good relations with my previous employers, I am a bit worried for that

Thanks & Regards,
+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Don't worry -- bad relations don't matter much as long as you haven't lied factually about your expereince, exposure or salary. They (most HR/Managers) have seen enough world to know that people's ego make them say certain things despite their position and they won't hold against you.

My friend was really tortured in one project, and when he left company he was verbose enough to voice his opinions about managers and processes, and when same manager was contacted from his current company for reference; he did spit some venom. But it didn't affect my friend's offer -- they did not even mention it to him though he was concerned. later, an HR person from his previous companies joined his current compnay and they both had hearty laugh about how previous company was!!! Mind you, previous company is one of the very reputed CMM level 5 company, but it happens!!

As long as you did not told any lies you do not need to worry. Always there will be some ego problems which affects your relation. And I have seen very few managers who wants to block or tell bad about a person based on relationship. In my experience I understood that your differences are just emotional and they will washed as time passes. Ofcourse there will be some exceptions.

Exactly, there are lot of ripple effects of such raises, that's what I have been talking about in another thread.
