A lot of these consultants put employees in cramped apartments. Example, throw in 4-5 people in a 1 or 2 BR apt.
Did you ask your consultant what kind of accomodation will it be ? No ones going to give you a 1br apt for yourself. Definitely not an Indian consultant!

If 3-4k per month (excluding rent/food) is good or not depends on your location. In a place like NYC, you will get decimated in that kind of pay. In a place like Omaha, you'll lead a comfortable life. So find out the location first to determine if the pay is sufficient and take rent into consideration as well.

Is 3K-4K before or after taxes ?

With a little knowledge, a cast iron skillet is non-stick and lasts a lifetime.
