This amy not be the best place for this question, but I was perusing the Jenny tutorial in preparation for doing a cattle drive servlet JDBC assignment. And came across this instuction:

Download jenny.zip, and put it in your classpath

Then there's a link with this cryptic piece of information:

Setting the classpath
If you are still using Win9x, (and I am) you can add
set classpath=%classpath%;<pathToJr.jar>\jr.jar
to your autoexec.bat file.

I couldn't find a forum dedicated to Jenny, so I'll ask my question here. Should I put jenny.zip directly into my root directory as is and put C:\jenny.zip; into my classpath, or unzip it first and then put the C:\jenny whatever into my classpath? Changing my classpath freaks me out, because I still don't quite have a handle on what all these commands mean and how to use them accurately. I've got mysql up and running, and I don't want to screw anything up by setting this classpath thing wrong.

Carol,
Of the three documents on Jenny, the one you are looking at is ambigious in this regard. If you take a look at the Jenny page or Jenny FAQ it spells things out a bit more. (Leaving the links here in case anything else is clearer on those pages.)

You unzip the jenny.zip file and place both jar files (that were in the zip file) in your classpath.

When you are testing things out, just use "java -cp...". Then it is limited to the command and can't possibly mess anything up.

And this is the right forum because Jenny is for JDBC.

Carol, it looks like you accidentally got an early look at material not yet ready for public release. I have restored the old pages; if you go to http://www.javaranch.com/jenny.jsp, you should get the correct info now. Sorry about the confusion...

Thanks you guys. I'm still finishing up the servlet assignments, but I want to have a bit of a handle on what's coming next! These links help a lot!
