Hi,

After five years of experience and working as a project Leader, what would be more preferable in terms of career growth PMP or SCEA?

Thanks
Sanjay

Since I have a MBA -which includes a little bit of everything-, I did the SCEA. I am planning to do the PMP later.

My advice, go technical first and then functional. SCEA and then PMP.

PMP is Project Management Professional

From effort point of view:
You can get PMP with few effort it is easy but SCEA I heard is very hard to get.

I think in management environment nobody seek for certification (they look for university degree) but of course if you have PMP you gain management knowledge.
In technical environment SCEA is very cool

but it is hard to say which one is better because they are not related thing to compare.

Even for a seasoned J2EE juggernaut, passing SCEA can take up to 8 months -1 year with job.

If you have that kind of adrenalin, its advisable to utilize it into SCEA.

hi,

Personally I would prefer to have a combination of techincal and management. But in my apprsial my manager suggested me to go for an MBA/PMP degree as he feels my management skills are much oustanding then my technical skills.

Thanks
Sanjay

Prashant, avoid using local languages in JavaRanch forums as it is accessed by many people who do not know our local languages.

Thanks
