Hi,
I have the following exception

java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver]Invalid character value for cast specification on column number 61 (NXT_PAR_CALL_DT)
at sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbc.createSQLException(JdbcOdbc.java:6998)
at sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbc.standardError(JdbcOdbc.java:7155)
at sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbc.SQLGetDataStringDate(JdbcOdbc.java:4075)
at sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcResultSet.getDataStringDate(JdbcOdbcResultSet.java:5781)
at sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcResultSet.getDate(JdbcOdbcResultSet.java:984)
at xlIE.XlRdWr.getConnXl(XlRdWr.java:106)
at xlIE.XlRdWr.main(XlRdWr.java:29)

I am sure the data type of the column NXT_PAR_CALL_DT in the excel sheet is DATE.
Can any body explain me why this error is caused?

Thanks,
samanth.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
