Empty SQLException on attempt to run a stored procedure

I am using Progress OpenEdge JDBC driver, and I have written a stored procedure in the database, that checkes if an entered user exists in the ApplicationAdministrators table. When I create a procedure, it shows that there are no errors in it, and the query that I use to get a correct password works fine when run individually.
I call my procedure from my Java Application as follows:

  CallableStatement callLogin = con.prepareCall("{call userlogin (?, ?)}");
callLogin.setString(1, loginName);
callLogin.setString(2, loginPass);

callLogin.execute();

ResultSet r = callLogin.getResultSet();

connect=r.getInt(1);  

after this line it breaks with an empty SQLException. Why???

Did you try to do a getNext() on the resultset?

Usually when working with resultsets you will need to get the next result by making a getNext() call.
