FOR UPDATE STATEMENT

hello,
Can i use FOR UPDATE in this form SELECT columnName FROM tableName WHERE condition FOR UPDATE which is used for updating and locking.I want know how to do this.can anybody help me please.

Hi Venkatesh,

What do you really need to do? Do you want to update a row? Or you need to lock a row for updating?

I have used that in one of my projects. Was using Informix database.
You need to check if your database supports "FOR UPDATE" with "SELECT".
