sasken or CGI

Hi Everybody,
I am santosh doing M.Tech(CSE) in one of premier institute of india, during our campus placements i got selected in sasken(2.5 lpa + 1 Yr.bond) and CGI(3.75 lpa+ assured onsite with 2 yr. time frame) can anybody please resolve my confusion regarding which company to join . Actually i have two parameters in my mind , i want to go where i can get good work & opportunities to learn and sureshot onsite as early as possible.can some body let me know info abt these companies?

Definatley CGi is the better oppoutunity where you will definately get your Knowldege strive get out . You will be having very good opportunity to learn with a very good Working environment.. and offcourse package is dammm gooood.

I will suggest you to join CGI without any doubt.

CGI is IT firm and sasken is doing Engineering work . you will have more satisfied job at Sasken .

Also locationwise Sasken is better.CGI is located in Electronics City I believe.Journey to electronics city daily is a nightmare.

Shipra,could you please explain what you meant by 'Engineering work' in Sasken?

Hi,

Dont look at salary now . You will have a good opportunity to learn much in Sasken. I hope, sasken is in telecom domain. I would suggest Sasken instead of CGI .

In Sasken only very few teams work on latest technology in telecom domain. Most of the teams work on maintenance projects. You can say 80% on maintenance projects. Onsite chances are very less in Sasken. If you are very particular in joining a Telecom company you can join Sasken. Otherwise go for CGI.

I am happy to receive your suggestions most people have recommended sasken over CGI.I think sasken is a better place to go if one is intrested in going for system level work and CGI for application oriented work. Can any body please suggest me which type of work will have brighter future and which type of work(system/application) (product based /services based company) should i choose as a fresher?

product companies work on a particular domain,u will be tied to that domain,so if any point of time that domain is passing through bad phase,those companies will give layoffs,whereas software services companies work on multiple domains u have the chance to shift off on another domain

In the long run you will have better future in system level work as you gain experience there are fewer people doing system level work at senior positions . the entry barrier at system level work is higher . you will also get to continue to work on waht you have lernt at college ( electronics ) . Initially you may get attracted to high salary offered in application work but 5 years down the line that will disappear . Join Sasken .
