Hi all,
I have been a following this board from some time. I need some advice about moving back to india. I would appreciate your advice.

I have done my BTech in India in Computer Science. I also have M.S in C.S in US. I have around 2 1/2 yrs of exp working exp. in U.S in j2ee. What are the prospects of getting job in India with this kind of exp. I also have a couple of java certifications. What kind of salary can i expect approx for my exp? Would my masters be counted or would i be the same as a having 2 1/2 yrs of exp? How do i search for a job in India. I have seen naukri, monsterindia and other sites. But they seem to be having lot of consultants . That is something i did not know existed in india previously. Is it ok to trust them. Is it better to apply directly in a company website.

regards

Hi Laxman,

To give you some idea about the job market in India, I should say that it's booming

J2EE has good demand and your MS would be taken into consideration.

Regarding jobsites and consultants, it's okay to go through consultants, as my experience says that 'processing' is much faster it the application comes through them.

Also we have 'Walk-in's where one can directly go the venue and it's organised by the companies.

Other forum members will also help you regarding this.

Hi,

Job market in India is good now and since you have MS and and half years experience, you might get around 6-7 lacs per annum, may be more in bigger companies.

Going through consultants is ok, since they dont charge you. I may be wrong, but thats what I heard.

All the best.

I see some Indian yearly salary figures here. How much would that be in US dollars? Also, I hear that people are leaving the States and going back to India. Does that mean that the job market in the US is bad? Please, let me know. I am Brazilian citizen. I also have BS in CoE + MS in EE degrees from the United States. I returned to Brazil to work in management after 7 years of software development experience in the US. My company went thru some re-orgs, and my position was laid off. I went back to software development. But I am thinking about returning to the United States, as the salary pay for developers in Brazil is not worth.

Generally salaries in India will be 20%( programming jobs) to 40% ( senior level jobs ) in dollar terms compared to US . Lately i have heard some firms offering upto 50% of US salaries . When compared to average middle class income levels in India that is still 2-3 times higher . This can lead to better quality of life in India too .
Some people returned due to better salaries offered in home country not due to bad job market in US .
