Hi all,
My friend has been offered a job to work in the US by one MultiVision Inc.
In order to file H1B Work permit for him, they are asking 1500$ as security deposit immediately. They are assuring on paper that they would refund this 1500$ in the first paycheck once he lands in the US. Also if his Visa is denied for any reason, they claim that the money will be refunded.
Is it worthy of doing this? Is there any one who has heard of this company ?
Opinions are welcome. Please help him make the right decision as he is very much confused.
I appreciate your help.

I think the practice has been started by consultants to avoid non-serious applicants. Earlier some people used to file H1 from multiple sources (not sure whetehr that was legal) and then chose any/none.

Hi Ramasubbhu Allur Kuppusamy !

Is it worthy of doing this? Is there any one who has heard of this company ?

I would say no immediately for following reasons :

1) this is clearly bodyshopping practice to exploit him, don't go for it.

2) H1B is becoming a very hazardous and volatile resource which is very heavily debated right now in congress because of the many abuses which seem to occur and because it is said to harm US citizens interests. Now that midterm elections are approaching the program itself is completely unsecure. Anyway many studies prove that H1B is used nowadays (since about 2002, wasn't the case before) to exploit people who are paid average 30% less than standard corresponding wages. So you should't rely on H1B which could change dramatically for strong political reasons.

3) It looks to me nowadays (with all respects) totally stupid to leave one of the 2 very hot IT countries which are India & China to go abroad for exploitation. Rather stay at home in this case and capitalize on skills while still living well instead of being exploited abroad. If one become really good fair abroad opportunities will come by themselves.

Best regards.

What if the h1b shop applies for your visa and you don't turn up?. The money that he spends on filing your H1 is down the drain right? He has to cover his expenses and I think this is OK. If i were a small h1b shop that can't afford to lose money like this then I w'd do it too.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
