hsqldb's sqltool

i'm attempting to use windows batch files to run sql scripts against hsqldb database. I would like to use a RC file for authentication. I've placed the sqltool.rc file in the same path as hsqldb.jar to use hsqldb's import/export utility. I've successfully used inline authentication to execute sql scripts using essentially the same methods. Here's a sample of I've done:

In the RC file I have the following

# A personal, local, persistent database.
urlid personal
url jdbc:hsqldb:file:/Mydb/personal;shutdown=true
username sa

The batch has the following statement:

java -jar /pathtojar/hsqldb.jar personal script1.sql

Unfortunately, I don't know how to get the windows shell to show to examine what errors I'm receiving since I'm in non-interactive mode. I've tried the /i switch to make interactive.

any help is appreciated.
