Hello everybody,

I have 1.5 years of Java/J2EE experience.I would like to change my job.Need your suggestions. I am in two minds please help me

1. Whether to prepare for SCWCD, clear it and then search for a good job?
OR
2.Post my resume in job sites and attend interviews, simultaniously prepare for SCWCD?

I have cleared SCJP with a weeks preperation(because of client requirements and deadline), my score is not that good.

At any cost i have to change my job
reasons:
1. I am being paid peanuts here, not even sufficient for a comfortable living
2.I am on bench from past 1 month and can expect the same for next 2 months

Kindly suggest me .. Shall i clear SCWCD and then apply for job?
or start job hunt and simultaniously prepare for SCWCD?
Will there be any consideration if i clear SCWCD?

Eagerly waiting for your valuable suggestions..

Thanks & Regards,
Neelima

Hi,

My suggestion would be to start looking for a new job (attend interviews and stuff) and mention to the recruiter that you are preparing for the certification.

He may ask some questions related to the cert,, so be prepared. Also mention that you are preparing and plan to appear on your CV.

All the Best!

Hi Neelima !

Point 2, certifications are slight (very small indeed) help which in your case would allow your resume to get upwards into resumes stack, but NOTHING helps as much as real paid experience to find a new job.

So without doubt, post your resume and attend interviews right now, and then choose by balancing between job's interest and wages. For example IMHO quality insurance / support jobs are awfuly boring and exhausting on middle range, so you could work in this field some 2 / 3 years before being fed up, but wages are usually good and the skills you will get with them will be helpful for your future jobs. Or you could choose a job with lower wages but much more interesting for you.

Anyway, good luck, IT seems booming now, it is right time for change if your present job is no good any longer.

Best regards.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions.
I will definitely post my resume and start for a new job hunt.. and simultaniously prepare for WCD
