Hi Richard
You should try out O'Reilly publications book on Enterprise Java Beans. That is one of the best books to start out on.

Try "Instant Enterprise JavaBeans" by Paul Tremblett. It's good for beginners because he takes you step by step through each part of developing an EJB application including deployment using the J2EE reference implementation. And I mean "step by step" since he shows you screen shots and tells you exactly what you have to do.
