I tried running the ConnBeanDemo.jsp that comes with Oracle 8.1.7 and that error message comes up most of the time (Usually it works if I visit the page for the first time, but once I reload it, the error message appears).
Here are a few lines from the .jsp file:

I usually get error messages like this when I load the page for the first time:
org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Cannot find any information on property 'user' in a bean of type 'oracle.jsp.dbutil.ConnCacheBean'
But if I ignore them and reload the page.. bam, everything works just fine (the user/password and database connection, as well as the query results too).

However, as I mentioned above, if I reload the page after my first visit, either the error message sql.SQLException: The url cannot be null would appear or I would get this nasty one: [URL=http://www.user.dccnet.com/quadcomm/ConnCacheBeanDemo.txt
[/URL].
I'm on my first week as a Linux systems admin (I was supposed to do programming, but...) in my new job.. so I will really, really appreciate any help.
Running Redhat 6.2 and Oracle 8.1.7.
BTW The JDBC 2.0 Direct Access demos worked flawlessly.

"Mark M",
The Java Ranch has thousands of visitors every week, many with surprisingly similar names. To avoid confusion we have a naming convention, described at http://www.javaranch.com/name.jsp . We require names to have at least two words, separated by a space, and strongly recommend that you use your full real name. Please log in with a new name which meets the requirements.
Thanks.
