Hi there,
I have just started to try and learn J2EE and am having a little trouble. After following the advice by a kind person on this site, I finally managed to configure my .bat files to get the J2EE server running (running on W95). The next step, in the sun tutorial, is to start deploytool. When I run the command I keep getting a "bad command or file name" error on the line in deploytool.bat that ends:
-classpath "%CPATH_CH%" com.sun.enterprise.tools.deployment.main.Main %*
when I attempt to start it.
Further investigation shows that, while I have the directory structure in the %J2EE_HOME%\lib\locale\com\sun\enterprise\tools\deployment\main the only files in that, or any other directory in the entire "\locale\" parent, are "localstrings.properties" files.
So, I guess I have two questions:
1) Should there be other files in these directories and if so, why has my j2ee version 1.3 exe not installed them?;
2) How do I get deploytool to work?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Regards,
Ant

Hi Ant,
perhaps you might have made mistakes in setting of the J2EE_HOME variable???
1. if you are working with windows go to the %Jsdkee1.3 directory with dos-box.
2. try command set
3. Watch for the J2EE_HOME variable. In my computer its J2EE_HOME=C:\j2sdkee1.3
You can set this locally to test with 'set J2EE_HOME=C:\j2sdkee1.3'
Be warned. You get no results if you have spaces around the '='!!!
You also have to direct JAVA_HOME to your jdk.
hope this helps

Gayathri,
that posting was made nearly 2 years ago. Times are indeed changing, but at the time Win95 was sufficient for my needs.
