Hi,
I have 2 years of IT Exp. Now I got an admission for Masters in Software Engg in USA . Also one job consultant is ready to file my H1B with 2000$ fee. I am very confused which to accept. Will higher education help me or I should go for the work experience?
You opinion will help me to decide. so Please advise me.

Thanks,
Arati

Which will help you to do what? What is your goal? What is the job? What is the educational program?

Thanks Mark for reply.
I am in US on H4 visa.
I got admission for MS in Software Engg in San jose state university for fall 2006. And about the job - I got a consultant who is ready to file my H1b and will search for the assignment. But there is risk that if I do not get any assignment in a month then I have to change my visa status again to H4. As he is not ready to give salary in bench period.
So is it better if I do MS full fledged or take a risk of consultant?
Will higher education help me for better prospectives?

Not to discourage you or anything but I have many friends (Indians and on F1 / OPT/ H1B) who did their M.S. / MBA from good US universities and were / are struggling to get a sponsorship / job. Now the situation is somewhat better than what was a year or two ago but still the salary which they are offered / earning is ridiculously low. And I see no difference in the work / job they do, the role they play and a non M.S. /MBA guy. (Its even more surprising that even after doing MBA from good university people work as programmers .. well it is atleast to me.. if thats what you want to do then why bother..). If you want to work as a programmer/ developer/ designer / architect then IMO nothing beats experience provided you have some basic edu. qualification (like Bachelors in Eng. B.E. / MCA/MCM etc.) which I believe you do as you have mentioned that you were working for syntel in some other thread.
On the other hand if you are into academics, enjoy (and can afford :-) ) studying then thats a different matter altogether... but then why San Jose .. why not Berkley :-) ?
All the best.

Cheers

Rohan.

Do you have an admit in San jose with any teaching assistantship or RA...If you have got any such thing then you could consider higher studies else I would prefer job....

As Rohan said Why not a better univ than San Jose??
