Hi all,
I would like to know how I can prompt the user for entering the username and password for login verification while the session gets timed out. This i need in a project using Weblogic Server as webserver. The project is following J2ee architecture with EJB.
Thanks in advance,

Hi,
You could do it the following ways, altough there are very many ways to implement session timeout.
1) Using a browser cookie:
Set a cookie with a timestamp, and everytime the user access a page in your application do the following:
a) Read the cookie
if "cookie timestamp" is beyond your sessions timeout value then redirect the page to the loin page;end
if not, then rewrite the cookie with the latest timestamp.
2) Using a Session Object:
You would typically get the session object and check for the idle time of the user and would follow the same kind of programming as above.
hope this helps.
However both of the above would fail if the user has disallowed sites to set cookies on his/her system, You would then have to look towards URLRewriting.

I forgot to specify one thing. There is an Xml file in weblogic where session time out can be specified. Using this my application is prompting the user to enter password. As per my knowledge the session time out is handled by the server.am I correct?? If its happening so, is the users session is made invalid?? Because i dont want that to happen. If the user re-enters the correct password i want him to get his old session back and resume from where he has stopped browsing. I hope u can understand my question. Please give me a replay ASAP.
Anyway thankyou Nitin for your kind info.
Thanks,
