In the following ways which is the best?
1) Applet connecting EJB via Servlets

2) Applet directly communicating with EJB
In my view, i like to prefer the first approach bec of the following advantages:
1) No Firewall problems
2) Client is totally independent from server with servlet as a facade.
My doubt is whether this appraoch has any performance hit due to the overhead in serializing objects between servlet and applet?
Thanks,
Saran

I don't think that direct applet-EJB communication is practical because of security constraints on applets. I would definitely go with the "servlet as proxy" method.
