As I've been reading through the 3rd edition Enterprise Java Beans book it has a lot of info on using the Local interfaces rather than remote and when best to use them, but I've seen no mention so far on how clustering and HA/DR can work (or if it can work) for Local bean calls.
Anybody have information on it? Are there any issues using this method? Or do you just cluster then local EJBs along with any Remote ones?
Thanks

Local beans are local. That means that the instances are inside a single JVM -- thus you don't cluster them since they're not remote.
However, a normal design (as Richard discusses in his book) is to use Local Entities together with Remote Sessions. That is perfectly amenable to clustering, and works fine.
