Hi friends,
i am in an urgent need of advice..

I have about 1.5 years experience in java/jsp/servlets...
When i go for recruitment people ask me do u know oracle and then starts asking questions regarding them..

can you people please help me what things do i need to know when the job profile asks for oracle
Pl/sql??? dbms concepts??? or something else....
one persone asked me to write stored procedure in interview...
do i need to konw complete oracle for a java job???
i m a programmer not a database administrator...i dont understand what do they want...

please help...

If you'd known PL/SQL (and thus met the job requirements) you'd not have had to ask this question...

And no, it's not a DBA tool but rather a programming environment.

It's not so much whether you "need" to know "Oracle" for a Java job. It's whether you want to...

These days, a vague question like "Do you know Oracle?" is completely ridiculous considering the tech stack Oracle currently has. It goes from the database all the way through the middle-tier (Fusion) into the view layer (JSF components).

If you *want* to spend time at the database end of it, then you'll probably want to pick up PL/SQL. But if I were you (being a Java/JSP/Servlets programmer) I'd be content with knowing SQL and be wary of jobs wanting you to write a lot of PL/SQL.

jeroen u better be specific for what u want to say,
I hope people answer to my query other than putting somehting that does not make sense
