I want to go through the Sun tutorial on J2EE to get a feeling for how it works, but as I was installing it, I noticed it said the windows version would only work w/ Windows 2000 professional. Is this true???

I am not sure about the accuracy of that statement but I know for sure that J2EE RI and hence J2EE tutorial is designed to work only on Windows 2000. They do not say it won't work. Give it a shot. (Apache Tomcat also say it is designed to work only on NT and 2000 but people have tried on on windows 98 and it works just fine.

Thanks for the input. I don't think it's going to work. Or at least it won't work the way I want it to (which is all the time).
Rather than purchasing another expensive and crappy microsoft product , I was thinking about buying one of those new Microtel computers (from Wal Mart) and installing Red Hat Linux on it.
Any opinions on that idea??? Would it work?
