Hi All,

I am a 1 year experienced Java Developer who is desperate to get another job. I am working for a small company and I am getting paid very less. And I am not working on any hot technologies either.

I have a few questions in my mind, please help me out.

1. How difficult will it be to get another job for my experience?
2. How much pay I can expect if I shift to another company?
3. Will the certifications help me in finding a job?

I am in Hyderabad, India. And my salary is between 10-12K. Please give me suggestions also, I don't have a clue on what other people are getting for the same amount of experience. And also please suggest me how do I plan to shift to a bigger and good company.

Thank you,
Naresh

Difficulty level depends upon your target company if you are looking for a job in Sun or Google then it is very difficult indeed.

How much pay I can expect if I shift to another company?

Industry standard is 30- 50% hike in your present CTC but if you are underpaid then increment can go upto 100%, if you target an MNC or big Indian IT consulting organisation you can get somewhere between 3 to 5 LPA

Will the certifications help me in finding a job?

No, certification will only help in building your confidence plus little help in shortlisting your CV, other people might have different iopinions in that which is discussed many times in this foru serach for it.

Naresh dont compare yourself with others interms of what they are getting for eg. a google employee with your experience might be getting 12 LPA, compare your knowledge with others, in the initial stages of your career dont go after money look for good quality work that will certainly help in your long term goal.

To go for bigger organisation I can only suggest you to try try and try and update your knowledge.

Thank you Sameer,

I am working mostly on core Java and Java Swing for the last 1 year and it's kind of boring now. I am planning to take SCJP and SCWCD to get a job on Servlets/JSP, that's why I had to ask about the certification.

I was just disappointed that I didn't get what I deserve after my first year. Like you said, I have to plan for long term.

Thank you very much for the salary details and importantly for your invaluable advice.

I don't even know how to spell CIA. But this tiny ad does:
Java file APIs (DOC, XLS, PDF, and many more)
