That is very less. I dont think you will lead a good life with that, but you can adjust with that salary.

What's your experience buddy ? With $1800 you may be able to save how much may be 500-600(without living a good life)nearly= 25000 rs. That much you can save in India after living a very good life. I'm assuming that you have 2-3 years of experience. Why do you want to go ?

Deep,

Why do you address K J Reddy in your "Subject title" and then "all" in your opening paragraph? If you address one person in the title, others may not bother opening the link. And if you need advise from one individual, you should consider personal messages.

I agree with Anand. If you address one person in Subject title your posting may be ignored by others. If a query is targeted to one person we have Private Message option for that.

$1,800 in Boston ?

Are they offering you a place to stay ? food ? transportation ? utilities? Otherwise, You will not save a penny, you might even need to borrow money. Cost of living in Boston is among the highest in US. According to Salary.com the average salary for a System Administrator is $73,500 or $6,126 per month.

A friend of mine used to live in Boston, one bedroom apartment in a very so-so neighbourhood was around $1,100.

The rule of the game - "Survival of the fittest". Superiority complex does not help any organization whatsoever. The bottom line is profitability. Cheap manufacturing rates, less infrastucture cost and better profits - that is what drives any company. If they think H1B workers are slaves then they better be correct since US government is going to increase this quota soon. And who will benefit - the corporations. And who is going to support the H1 visas - the corporations. But this is an understatement for others' calibre - slaves can become king whenever opportunity exists. If they cant find a skilled worker then let them operate the IT company from a place where talent exists. Either import talent or produce it. If you cant fight them then join them - "survival of the fittest" always holds good.

Does people know that real estate pays more than IT. Serious money is still in investment banking, stock exchange, CA and marketing jobs. So what the heck is this fight for. Be realistic, be fantastic, be flexible - welcome changes. I shall stay in IT so long till my second profession becomes self sustaining. Smile for life

One word . .. Exploitation

Ok few more words - as everybody else said, the salary is less and you may not be able to save anything - and that at the cost of leaving your country, family and good lifestyle here. So ask for what you actually deserve.

Welcome to JavaRanch!

In an effort to help you get the most from our forums, we've compiled a
list of tips for asking questions here. You can find the list in our
FAQ section here.
In particular please see:
UseRealWords

Abbreviations such as "u" or "ur" in
place of "you" and "you are" or "you're" confound language translation software making
it hard for our non-English speaking members to read your posts.
"plz" is not a word in the English language.

Again, welcome to JavaRanch.

1800 is too less, you wont be able to save much, you will be frustrated to see that people like you are drawing 2,3 or 4 times of your salary
