In what context? Sounds like they could mean a Proxy to me...

Hi Kyle,
Thanks for your reply. I was reading in an article says ..."EJB object is a surrogate object that knows networking, transaction, security and more...". So i want to know what is the difference between Object and Surrogate object in this context.?

They mean it's a proxy (or Decorator perhaps) as in the "Design Patterns" sense. It wraps the actual implementation object and provides additional features/functionality to the object. You work with the proxy and not with the underlying object directly.
