By "a j2ee server" do you mean the J2EE RI Server or any J2EE Application Server?
If it is the latter then you should know that the actual process of configuring and deploying a CMP Bean is vendor-specific. For example, in WebLogic you would need to setup a datasource (pointing to your Cloudscape DB) and then write an additional DD containing this and other information for the CMP Bean. The process is similar for other application servers.

I meant a j2ee application server. My actual problem is on the server i dont get the persistent fields the variables that will be used to generate sql statements how do i get those fields while deploying.I gues i gotta create a table in cloudscape but cloudscape gui just wont open on j2ee1.3.1 server i cant seem to understand how to go about making the database settings.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
