COM can be compared with java bean not EJBS.
DCOM or .Net Remoting can be compared with EJB.

I beg to differ. COM cannot be compared to JavaBeans although DCOM is analogous to truly distribued EJB architecture.
COM is based on component architecture except that it is not transactional like EJBs. However, just the way EJBs use container-provided transactional capabilities using JTS, COM and DCOM components can use transactional service offered by MTS.
DCOM is COM across a network or "COM with a wire". COM assumes the interacting components are available in the same "container" at runtime and therefore somewhat similar( in architecture ) to optimizations done by containers for local EJB calls within the same JVM. DCOM is a more general component specification that promotes location transparency and hence somewhat similar to general EJB specifications.
