I have my Application (Supply Chain Management System) Deployed in I-Planet. It is working perfectly fine under normal circumstances.
I am using OpenSTA testing tool (for heavy load testing) to generate multiple user activities like Logging In , performing various activities and then logging out. Now lot of exceptions (mainly NullPointer Exceptions) are encountered, mostly when Same Type of Users (Performing similar activities at similar intervals) are made to start simultaneoulsy.
Above said problem is not faced if new user starts every 2 or 3 seconds and all don't login simultaneouslly. But it starts giving here and there exceptions when the user count starts touching 150-200.
What I identified is that when more SQL queries are run simultaneously, specifically, Same query is run by different users (4 or more) from the same bean module, the resultset returned for few of them returns NULL. Hence further operations on that resultset lead to Null Pointer Exceptions in the Bean or Servlets.
I guess there are some settings to be changed for heavy load and simultaneous requests. I increased pool size, wait time, no. of threads, connection time out on the i-planet side and increased no of open cursors, no of processes and shared_pool_size... But they didn't help.
If no direct answers then please give me the links from where I can get info on how to configure Oracle and i-Planet for heavy Load.
With a little knowledge, a cast iron skillet is non-stick and lasts a lifetime.
