Hello,

I have applied for a J2EE position in Accenture and I have got response from Accenture HR asking date/time for interview. I have following worries/doubts:

1. I have submitted a really "bad format" resume; will they care?

2. They are looking for 3 to 6 months of solid J2EE experience. I have exposure to Servlets/JSP/JDBC but not EJB/JMS/JTA as such. Will they care? I have only 2 days and I dont think I can study much.

3. Any idea what is the level of questions they will ask in interview?

4. Having 7+ yrs of experience; all 7 yrs with relevant experience; please advise how much salary should I expect from them?

5. Any idea of work culture?

6. Any idea of designations/roles/hierarchy in the company? Though initially I may join as J2EE Developer but very soon I am expecting to perform role of a J2EE Architect / Tech Lead.

Please help with these questions and provide as much information as you can. Thanks so much!

Accenture pays less ....dont expect much from them.

Accenture pays 2.1 for freshers even in blore....they recruit in bulk...you have a staggering exp level....go for a tough negotiation.....they are bit stingy to spend.

I agree with Alfred's assessment. They won't care about your resume format and they will not pay as much as you could get elsewhere. If you have 7 years of experience they should be happy to have you. Accenture is somewhat notorious in the industry for taking new college grads, some of which have never written a line of code in their lives, running them through a camp where they teach them to code, and sending them out on a project. I don't know if they still do this, but when they did, they used to have extremely high turnover, and the experience level of most of their people was much less than 7 years. I knew a few independent consultants who said that they made a lot of money by going in to a project after the Accenture people got done with it, and cleaning up the design and the software so it would work.

I also wouldn't worry too much about not having the EJB exposure; a lot of companies are moving away from EJB and on to lightweight frameworks, Hibernate and Spring being the big buzzwords lately.

I couldn't guess at what a reasonable salary for you is, since I don't know where you live, but 70k-90k would be pretty normal for someone with 7 years experience looking for work in a midsize city.

Doesn't matter much, you can give updated resume when you go for interview.

2. They are looking for 3 to 6 months of solid J2EE experience. I have exposure to Servlets/JSP/JDBC but not EJB/JMS/JTA as such. Will they care? I have only 2 days and I dont think I can study much.

Don't worry, if you are strong what you mentioned in your resume that should be enough.

3. Any idea what is the level of questions they will ask in interview?

Mostly depends on your skills mentioned in your resume. In accenture HR interview is more important then technical interview.

4. Having 7+ yrs of experience; all 7 yrs with relevant experience; please advise how much salary should I expect from them?

Depends on your current salary but Accenture may not give you good hike.

5. Any idea of work culture?

Don't know.

For your experience they should give you Tech lead postion.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
