+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Hi All,
Currently im working in Singapore. I'm planned to move back to India. B'Cause thr market is very nice and i hope i'll get a good package. That may be less than wat im getting now. At the same time Singapore is very expensive and i couldn't save much since Feb-2005.

Also, when I think abt my carrer, I feel, @ this time, India is good compare to Singapore. The package, Technical skills and also the working culture. I can stay with my family and friends too. "Is my decision is good or im going in a wrong way?" I'm having this dilemma since 1 year. I'm ready to go to India without job too and I'll search for a job.I hope I'll get a job with in 1 or 2 months max.So plz giv Suggestion to overcome this dilemma.

I really appreciate that you do want to come back to India. I personally feel it is a great idea to work in the home country and definitely with all near and dear ones along, you will certainly have a good life.

But there are also pitfalls too which one should be aware. Like you say singapore is costly as compared to India. Bear in mind then salary is also many fold as compared to India. I would myself look for the quality of living that I m in and how I give it to my family. Work satisfaction also counts.

But finally it is you who ll do justice to yourself by self retrospection.

Above all I think it should be a good move. Dont leave your job over there, apply in the job sites and when you get offers from India then only quit that job.

regards,

Abhishek

Thx Abishek.., My resume already in naukri and I'll update that...,
basically i got dilemma b'cause of those who are staying here from India. Mostly they are saying that im taking a wrong decision. But i feel they are all in mind set like Singapore life is better than India. So they are staying here happily. But my mind set not like that. Also they all left India b4 10yrs, 5yrs, 3yrs like that. That means most of the people dont know the current situation of India also.
As per your suggestion i'll look for job in India from here it self.
I'll wait for others suggestions also.

Thank you

Hi there...

As Abhishek said, u can look for advice from friends and collegues but the final call..to return or not to return.. should be totally yours.

@India - Yes, its developing country..and trust me there are lots of opportunities - including good pay package, good life(if u join some CMM5 level company - u have all perks - food, transport, vouchers, pay, parties,fun..everythg u can think of)...and above all..your friends and family..

Its most appropriate to search Job while you are in Singapore thru job boards like Monster, Naukri, JobsAhead, Sulekha..and like...even friend network is one of good options to consider..but its not that easy..
I tried searching for job in India thru US..i did that(actively...used to sit daily for search, apply, follow up calls..evrythg) for @month...but recruiters usually prefer interviewing once u land in India.....jus check if anyone is interested for telephonic interview...so that might help u wiht job search in Singapore itself...but yes give ur best shot to find job then leave..
Ok. I didnt find one, so i came to India, but within 15 days I joined one of cmm5 company..with good package, facilities..and above all satisfaction of being in home country!!

@Singapore: Ya, its pretty expensive...but u will save only in long term...i mean if u plan to stay for quite a couple of years then u might end up having some savings...Besides life in India is very different from Singapore, US, or any other country outside India...some ppl even get bugged with road conditions, heavy rainfalls, transportation problems..n many more...if u are ok..with all these ..well n good...

U have to rate certain factors(PayScale, LifeStyle, Family, Career,...) that are important to you and come to final deicison depending on what hold high importance in your life..

Your any decision...To Stay..or To Return...cant be said as 'Good' or 'Bad' decision...coz its different for every individual...for me it was Good..or someone els it might be bad..

Besides there's always X+1 syndrome..every year one will think of moving back and say..no might be next year...then next year..he will say next year..so it goes on...X+1 years..thats the reason ur friends are still in Singapore..coz(evn if they think of returning)...lets face it...they are now very used to lifestyle there and they are Ok wiht leaving apart from there friends and families...for sake of what they think is a good life...

All in all...one should respect everybody's decision. And possibly avoid rating it as 'Good' or 'Bad'..

The above post says it all.

Things come in packages that we have to live with. If you were born and brought up in India, you shouldn't have problems with the infrastructure and other known discomforts. The biggest flipside is that you get to stay close to your family and friends.

I too was in a similar situation some time back, my opinion is its difficult to search a good job staying in s'pore. However you can attend few telephonic interviews and get some idea about the job market in india.
As said above its individual choice to choose where to work. Goodluck to you.

I do remember in another thread you mentioned that you got an offer in s'pore $10k p.m., if you don't mind could you please tell which company is that? Have you decided to move to s'pore?

when I left India last year I got a offer for 1lakh per month from a medium range banglore based company headquarter in California.

I believe when you are force to leave US and search for another country then why Singapore, in India also you can make good money.
And after staying one year if you want, you can easily come back to USA.

Joshi: What do you mean ? Just reminding you that Pls. be prepared that DEFINITELY you will not get the Quality of Life compared to US here in Singapore...many reasons. Not just $$. I've posted reasons even earlier.

I tend to agree that S'pore is costly but comparing US and Singapore is like comparing Apples to Oranges. The conditions are v. different. When you compare India with Singapore...things are again different. IF end of the day...if at all its just boils down to $$ then it does not matter wheere u go and live..but if its question of overall package, satisfaction, work, family and money then may be RIGHT NOW...India scores because ultimately we are all Indians and there is a +ve energy in India. The overall package is good !

I'm also dying to go back. I'm bored working in Singapore o'ready
Not sure how to approach..many cold calls from india but nothing concrete
I am going down to the lab. Do NOT let anyone in. Not even this tiny ad:
