hi there,
can anybody explain to me why an employee entity bean can't subclass a person entity bean ?
i know that it subclassing of EJB forbidden, but what is the logical reason ?

It's not forbidden, it's just explicitly outside the spec. In fact some application servers (like WebSphere) support it.

does it mean that you cannot deploy an application using subclassing in websphere to for example jboss or weblogic which don't support subclassing of entity beans ?

Yes that's what it means. Vendors provide extra-spec facilities like this all the time. It allows you to take advantage of additional features, but kills portability.
