I have a stateless session EJB which stores the contents of an xml file converted to a map (name-value pairs), when can then be viewed by clients. This xml file is my persistence mechanism, and any updates, deletions, etc. invariably change the contents of the xml file, which in turn affects further instanes of the stateless session EJB.
Obviously, the session EJB is a poor design choice, because Entity Beans are there to provide a container-managed view of some persisted data.
From my readings, I have yet to find a way to develop a CMP-EJB that persists to an XML file. Is this design choice possible, and if so how. If not, what would be a good course of action.
Thanks.

You would want to use a BMP EJB for this, not a CMP EJB.
