I am presently working for an Indian company in US. (Most of you know which company I work for). I am completing 8 years of experience next month and now in Lead role. The only problem is I feel my package is too low. I am getting below 60k per annum. (Indian salary below 7 lakhs pa)

I am now planning to change the company but not sure which way to go. There are other indian/US companies plus consultants.

I have my family here in US so I need job stability with some decent package.

I need some inputs from your experience on whether I should go for any other company or join some consultant.

Also what package should I expect in case of company or consultants.

Thanks in advance, awaiting reply

Your starting salary in the next job will be determined based on your current salary; usually 5% - 15% more.

So your new salary will be somewhere around 65K.

This is especially true if you are an H-1B alien or if your next employer is bureaucratic MNC.

I thing getting below 60K for 8 years experience is really low. One of my friends is getting around 80k for 3 years, but usually for 8 years it will be around 80-100k.

All the best for the raise.

All,

Thanks for the replies.
Can you also suggest which one to chose?
Work with consultants or directly with a company?

Thnx,

check salary.com you can make a search based on your profile and state you live. 60K is quiet less (again depends where you live)

With body shopper company you can make good money but things goes worse once you don't have project. Don't believe in their words about stability.
So if don't worry about stability go with them.. big money.

Otherwise full time is better. But if they lay off after 3-4 years work then situation is even worse.

So I would suggest to go with top tier consulting companies with descent package neither equivalent to body shoppers nor less like full time. Also the job security and great exposure too.

Thanks Jignesh,

I have interview scheduled with Accenture in US. They said, they will complete the interview process and will define my level and role.
They also said, they will transfer me back to India once my visa expires.

Any one has any knowledge on how is Accenture ?
I heard lot of negative feedbacks from people based in India, how is it doing in US ?

Thnx,
Afroz

Your current salary range: $55K - $60K

If you pass all the interviews, Accenture will offer you: $60K - $69K

Like I said before, Accenture is the one of those companies who will determine your starting salary based on your previous salary history (regardless of number of experience on your resume) - this is especially true because you are an alien.

I would be very surprised if they offer you $70K+ for base salary.
