Hope it helps,

Are you in sydney or are you planning to get there soon?
there are plenty of jobs there.
If you are single and looking for quick cash
or
If your partner is in a permanent position
then you can consider contracting.

Canberra is also is a great place for contracting, but is a dull place.
website for job would be seek, mycareer, jobnet Yea dont forget to add .com.au

Hi,

All the jobs in seek, mycareer, jobnet are for those who are authorized to work in Australia, how to contact body shoppers for visa sponsorship or can we get work visa without approaching any body shopper for australia?

Dont know much about bodyshoppers so cannot advise. Personally i would not like to see much of them. it would make things like in the US.
My advise would be to visit immi.gov.au. Check the visa options.
Check if you are eligible to get a PR.
apply and further strengthen your skills.
PR generally takes 1 yr+ to process.
Apply for jobs, if your skills are in demand you could get a job over the phone. otherwise come over and face interviews.

Thanx guys for all the feedback. Actually I have got my permanent residence status in Australia. So I don't really have any visa/work permit problem. What I would like to know is :-

1. What is an avg salary for a person with 7 yrs exp in java, looking for a position as an Architect/Team Leader/Senior Developer etc..

2. What are the cities that I should look for, what abt Melbourne ?

3. Cost of living(with family) ?

4. Approx what % of salary is taxed ?

Ajay, are you currently working in Australia ???

Check some job agencies websites and they give average salary etc. For a senior developer to architect the range would from $80k - $150.

2. What are the cities that I should look for, what abt Melbourne ?

In general Sydney is the where most of the banking and finance jobs are. Melbourne is mostly engineering jobs. Brisbane and Canberra are doing well at the moment, mostly government jobs.

3. Cost of living(with family) ?

If you live in Sydney, it not the cheapest state. I heard recently the median cost of rent is around $300 a week; house prices are around $350k-$450k, if you want something nice maybe above $500k; fuel price is around $1.30 - $1.50 a litre. In general things are going up not down.

4. Approx what % of salary is taxed ?

Have a look at the ato website to give you details on the specific tax rates
ATO . In general you should be taxed around 40%, unless you earn above 150k you will be taxed 45%

Hope it helps,
Shameer

Shameer has put things out pretty accurately.
I live in canberra and i like the place. there are plenty of govt jobs here and work/ culture is great here.
I feel Sydney is a ruder city compared to melbourne, canberra and Queensland ie ive worked at the gold coast and that was a wonderful place to work at.
Giju , purely judging by your name i assume you are a Mallu.
If thats true there are plenty of em in melbourne and most of them who i met were very social. Also there is a marthoma/etc setup there as well. rent and cost of living is pretty reasonable too.
will PM you my email id, feel free to contact me.
