In the application I have a presentation layer and backend layer. In my bean i had defined user defined exceptions What is the best way to get a userdefined error message in the presentaion layer thrown by the ejb layer. Thanks, aakash

Depends on what u are using for the presentation layer. The common practice would be to have a custom exception handler pass back an error constant whenever an exception is thrown. This can then be mapped to a custom error message which can be in the application resource file.
