Hi all,
Is the Sun One Application server the same thing as the reference implementation that comes with the j2ee?
I really need to learn how to administer one or the other so I was wondering if anyone could suggest some decent books or other material. And if they are different, is the sun one version better than the other.
One last question, do these application servers have a GUI for administering them, or is it all done via config files (yuk!)
Thanks everyone
Take care
Simon

No, they're not the same. The RI is just that, a reference implementation, while Sun ONE is a commercial product.
So, if you need to learn one, I'd suggest Sun ONE as you won't be deploying any real-life applications on the reference implementation...

Thanks for that.
Is sun one difficulat to configure. Does it have a gui interface or is it done with crappy config files? What about the RI?
Thanks very much for your help

Hi Simon,
It is easy to configure S1AS. You can use SUN ONE administrative UI for the configuring the server.
