HI Jassi,

Currently the market for Java/J2EE is good, however, I can't say about your chances of getting a job in that field as per information you provided, can you elaborate more on your previous work experience and education? So that, I can suggest you more on this.

Thanks & Regards,
Surya.

Thankx Surya for your reply,
Well i am B.Sc(Physics)(1992),then i did a 2 year computer Diploma(97) from NIIT, and worked as a faculty till 2000.

I got married and flew to US but unfortunately i had a H4 and could not work neither my husband was interested in gettingit converted....so i did not do any job.....

Well ..we had come for a vacation when he passed away.....after that recently I did a course in Datawarehousing but no jobs for freshers and esp. me as i did my graduation long back.

So i am doing a course in JAVA/J2EE and now I am quite worried.......i wish to enter development.....i am getting jobs as a faculty but i wish to enter development.

Thankx,
Jas

Jas,

Some things that you can do:
1. Target the smaller/lesser known companies first. They will be more likely to accept you.
2. Get certifications. SCJP, SCWCD, SCBCD
3. Gather some real-life project experience - may be work for open source projects.
4. If not a full time paid job, try to get at least an unpaid internship position somewhere. At least you will get some handson experience.

Keep trying, Be Positive.

thx,
Ashish

Hi Ashsish,

Thank you for your suggestions.......but can you explain what are open-source projects and unpaid internship... i mean i do understand unpaid but internship here in India..ok i am in Mumbai(Bombay)

So as an example any company which provides internship.

Thank you,

Keep suggesting,

Jassi

N.B. Someone told me long back that certifications are of no value......even if i do them there won't be any weightage...as i am a B.Sc. any sugggestion???

Hi there..
My 2 cents...

you can start working as faculty( as you mentioned , you are getting some offers, right)...This way , you can keep yourself updated with Java/J2ee technologies that you are learning...At the same time, keep an eye on all job opportunities in market..

Software market is in boom in India..there might be problems bcoz of your experience and background..but may be you can even get thru the interviews...Who knows?

Other thing you can look out for is - start appying for fresher job(even freshers have good start-pay..these days...) Once you have good hands on technology and some industrial experience..then seek for higher positions and job profiles...

Good luck in your job hunt...

Let us...your Rancher friends know...if you need anything else...

If you are good at Java/Struts/Velocity we may have some part-time contract work for you that you can do from home and we'll of course pay you for the same. We need someone who is technically strong and thorough professional when it comes to honoring commitments.

Send me PM if you're interested.

PM - Personal Messagge that you can send to an individual from this UBB software. We need a professional with high comfort level in struts/velocity though.

Thank you for your reply...Shriniwas i am staying in Mumbai(in one of the Thane suburbs...actually).

Good suggestion but I have never seen an advertisement by these companies actually for a Trainer......ya i did see ads saying those having faculty experience need not apply

Any idea how i can apply to these for trainer position.

Jassi

You can contact them over the phone & ask HR person specifically for Training Job Openings.

You can contact Nilesh (Cell No: 9890389335..Not sure whether he has changed his cell no.,atleast give a try), He is in Infy, Pune in Training dept. You can refer my name while discussing with him.

Just drop a mail to me (mail id: pranav_m123@rediffmail.com)once you decide to call him,as its long time we have not communicated & will let you know in which context you can discuss my name with him.
