I have problem in securing the webapplication.
How do actually we encrypt the password if we are using browser as the client? How do we decrypt it?
If at all we encrypt and decrypt how to set roles for the web application,
suppose i have three different types of uers depending upon the type of user(admin, normal user) I want to provide the user interface to the client ?
How to create roles and assign previlages to the user in a webapplication in jsp, servlets and j2ee technologies?

Please read the J2EE Tutorial chapter on Security at http://java.sun.com/j2ee/tutorial/1_3-fcs/doc/Security.html.
Here are some short answers:
Q: How do actually we encrypt the password if we are using browser as the client? How do we decrypt it?
A: If you are using form-based authentication, just declare the submit URL as "https://...". Your browser will take care of encryption and the web server will take care of decryption.
Q: how to set roles for the web application,

A: By using web.xml
Q: How to create roles and assign previlages to the user in a webapplication in jsp, servlets and j2ee technologies?
A: You create roles (user groups) by using your appserver's administration tools. You assign privileges to roles using web.xml.
