using session facade pattern to call entity bean  RSS feed

Generally we use session facade pattern to call the entity bean from session bean. What will be the practical impacts or drawbacks if i dont use session bean to call entity bean and instead call the entity bean directly from controller level like from servlet.

The rationale for using a session facade pattern is explained here.
As with practically all design patterns, the idea is to raise the level of abstraction and indirection in a design.

Hi,
If you go thru the documentation of Session facade pattern, the advantagea are clearly mentioned. If you call entity beans directly from controller you are making multiple network calls and you may not be able to execute a single use case in one transaction and one network call.
