sure you can do that Prasanna. You can even do it without JMS, it's up to you.
I did it once with a message driven bean. My servlet published messages to a queue and my bean will extract the message, look up in the database for the mobile number for that user, and send the SMS. it was a very basic application.
I used simplewire API for that. very easy to use (bit expensive, though).
good luck

Andrez,
A few questions about simplewire website. I will go thru the site in detail later....
Last time we used O2 site to send sms messages in the UK.
1. Do they have a free published API,
or do I have to send a http request everytime to their web site.
2. Do they accept sms requests from automated applications
3. Do they charge for receiving sms.
4. Do they need registering, atleast one valid mobile number details.
5. Can this service be used in the UK.

1. Do they have a free published API,
you download a jar file and you use it in your code, if that's what you're referring to.
or do I have to send a http request everytime to their web site.
I think so, otherwise I'm not sure how they might charge you then
2. Do they accept sms requests from automated applications
don't know
3. Do they charge for receiving sms.
no, when I used it (long time ago)
4. Do they need registering, atleast one valid mobile number details.
You register, pay for certain amount of messages, and in your code you put the mobile number you want to send the SMS to.
5. Can this service be used in the UK.
it has coverage for many countries. Their support is really good and they'll probably answer these questions in a short time more accurately.

You can create and run the mobile (SMS) service. The system has a web interface with public access. Integration with Web application is supported.
