I have been working in Datamatics technologies,Mumbai since last 8 months. Earlier I was working in Veritas software Pune as Product Analyst. Due to interest in programming,learnt java cleared SCJP, resigned from veritas and took a job which was supposed to be a J2EE job. Datamatics offered me less package compared to Veritas because I did not have relevant programming experience.
After joining, I realised that there is no pure J2EE project. I have been working on a Java based product called Documentum in the Enterprise Content Domain.
The work is mainly installation/configuration and if customization comes then coding using Documentum proprietory framework,Java based API's and XML.
For 8 months there was no project and Documentum team was on the verge of being dissolved.
My Team leader and other team members resigned
My TL referred me to the HR at his workplace(Cognizant technology Solutions)and I resigned as well.I was not willing to leave so early but situation at workplace lured me to give the interview.
The day I resigned ,Datamatics bagged its first Documentum project and they offered me a counter offer more than CTS.
The issue is in CTS also Documentum practise is new and after the project that HR talked about,I dont know what will be the status of projects there.
In Datamatics after 3 months of the project duration, I dont know what will happen.the first project also has not started.
Since my relevant programming experience is less, I wanted to stay more in Datamatics
In Cognizant leave status is pathetic.And of course it is not pure J2EE.IT is on DOcumentum itself.Will this typecast me?
If you are expecting project then be there as salary is also same, later when you complete 1.5 years or more you can again apply for CTS or something else. This way your track record will also good and at the same salary is also incremented, now a days lots of hiring is going on so another 7-8 month not a problem.
Remember very few company use to give counter offer, once you join CTS then you have to be there for 2-3 yrs, and later you will complain about salary..
