I am a novice to J2EE platform. I hope to clearify sever aspects.
1. what is a container ?
A server like Tomcat, an interface or a just a class libeary.

2. what is a client container ?
Is runClient a container ?

No. It is the server. Or more accurately it is an application that runs on the server machine which contains your application code. In that respect:

actually container is a runtime environment for j2ee
components

is a little more accurate. The container provides services which are commonly required by large distributed applications (transactions, scalablility, security etc.)
