Hi
DAO are classes which you define to make it easier to accessing your data
and seperating data access to another layer ,
in brief : to encapsulate data access and manipulation in a separate layer(S),you use DAO.

But JDO is a new technology for persistence layer it has its own specefication ,-you think it something like CMP ,BMP- JDO goal is to define some interfaces to make object persistence quit easy and transparent.
it has its own transaction managments , Object states , OR mapping method ,..

so you can not use VS or comparesion between JDO and DAO because you can have your DAO classes around some JDO base classes.
