Duplicate Session-Ids being generated!

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Hi. I'm working on a Struts application using WebSphere 5.1 as a server. I have no problems in IE, but when I access my application using Netscape, the same Session Id is generated for any number of Netscape browser windows. I don't know whether the problem lies with Netscape or WebSphere or my application. Please let me know if any of you have faced similar problems.

Is each of the windows in its own process or are they all in the same Netscape process. If on Windows, check the Processes tab (rather than the Applications tab) of the Task Manager.

I notice that in Mozilla, whether I do New Window or launch it from the desktop shortcut, both cases result in only one process. With IE, however, launching it from the desktop shortcut results in multiple processes. It is my understanding that each process gets its own session. Perhaps Mozilla/Netscape is different, but I haven't investigated from the Session ID side.

You're right. It's the same process for any number of Netscapes. I guess it's browser behaviour and there's nothing I can do about it.

Over and out.

"Random Coding",
We're pleased to have you here with us in the EJB forum, but there are a few rules that need to be followed, and one is that proper names are required. Please take a look at the JavaRanch Naming Policy and adjust your display name to match it.

In particular, your display name must be a first and a last name separated by a space character, and must not be obviously fictitious.

Thanks,
Jeanne
