Hi,

I'm being interviewed for a job in the Houston Area, I found that the company that is offering this job was in the list of lowest salary rates for H-1B workers in 2004, but I want to know what's the normal pay for a 3 year experienced and Certified Java Programmer with J2EE and Struts knowledge in this area and if there is any difference between the residents salary and the one I should expect for being a foreign guy.

Thanks in advance

Hi Oscar !

According to the online salary calculator I used, normal pay would be around 65,000 $ a year.

But your question has no practical meaning, since nowadays for H1B salaries far inferior to normal pay are rather current (average is 30% less according to some polls), and may even be be undecently low since some very low official local staff state salaries may legaly be taken as reference for prevailing wage. Completely unfair, but completely legal.

You should simply ask this company how much they intend to pay you, there is no other way to know at all except pure guess, then you will decide something, such as shifting swiftly to another better paying H1B sponsor since market is good right now.

Best regards.

Hi,

May wife will probably apply for a elementary teacher position in texas, current salary is 30k - 35k. The jobs are for teaching in english and spanish.

The question is, if she could get the job, how easy/dificult will be for me to search and get a job, we are both from mexico witha 2 year baby.

I'm a Oracle DBA with experience in 8i, 9i and 10g, also experience with developer tools (forms, reports, discoverer) and with application server. Not a lot but with experience with j2ee too. I have been developer, webmaster, team leader and dba.

My IT experience began before (1990) entering university (1994) and a got my degree on Computer Systems in 1999.

Thanks
