Wouldn't it be useful to mandatory have to state required legal work status for a job offer here ? Although they are not overwhelming, this would avoid quite a lot of "I am an Alien, do you sponsor ?" redundant queries, since most are US related.

NOTE: This topic was originally in the Jobs Offered forum. It makes a little more sense knowing that context.
I'm not sure making it 'mandatory'. It's hard enough getting everyone to put the location in the subject, or use a valid display name here that if we had to police that as well...
Plus, I've seen plenty of posts saying "please contact me via email", and then several replies from people asking questions in the forum. Since the recruiter is expecting email, they often don't check back, and the questions go unanswered.
I can certainly put it in the notes at the top of the forum. That might help, but I don't want to make it mandatory.
Just my thoughts... if anyone else wants to weigh in, feel free. I'm also going to move this to the "Java Ranch" forum, where the site policies should be discussed.
