1.Hardware failover
2.Software failover
3.Application failover
4.Disaster Recovery

It is called a Solar Powered Calculator. They never break down.

There are many ways that these are "employed" and it really takes a huge expert to be able to give good advice. In all cases there are plus and minuses, and there is no 100% sure fire never fail solution.

So really the question is way too broad and open ended to be able to give you an adequate answer.

Sounds like a pencil with an eraser on the end to me. For DR, be sure to keep a box of spares. And a sharpener or 3.
