performance of using ejb while getting all rows

Hi
actually i am new to this forum.i started my carrier from this month only.
OK.We use ejb for getting all the rows in the database.How about performance of using ejb for using this kind of things?.Is it good or bad?

It depends on how many rows and how big those rows are in "all rows". If it is a code/description lookup table of about 30 records, then all rows is fine, and performance won't be that bad. And you could even implement some caching to keep the loaded lookup data into a cache, so that you won't have to go to the database each and everytime to get that data.

Now, if the data is big, and I won't define big here, then getting all the data that could be megabytes of data is a very bad idea, and some form of Paging should be implemented, or searching, where only the top 50 or so are returned.
