How flexible do you want it to be?

It really depends on the features that you have used. Some features will be harder to convert than others, but if best practices and standard design patterns were used it should not be too hard.

Is there any guideline provided by Sun for this conversion ? Does your book talk about these things.

There is no silver bullet, but we included a chapter on migration that discusses a number of different techniques you can use to convert legacy EJB entity beans into JPA-style entities.
