Mike Keith and Merrick Schincariol, does Sun offer any migration path recommendations for going from Hibernate & Spring to EJB 3.0?
Thanks,

John,

Sun does not typically spend too much time delving into migration issues. That is for practitioners to deal with .
Merrick and I have given talks on migration at JavaOne and other conferences, and have included a chapter in the book on migrating the persistence portion of existing applications to JPA. In terms of Spring/Hibernate systems I would take a look at the latest Spring 2.0 to see the features that they provide. They have added a lot of support for EJB 3.0 metadata so you will have the choice to use many of the EJB 3.0 features either from within Spring or in concert with an EJB Container. With the Spring persistence templates it should also be easier for you to choose whatever persistence solution that you want. They have added some nice integrated support for JPA in this release as well, so you have more flexibility for mixing and matching specs.
