I have an ejb based application and after it has been running for a few minutes (approx 10-20 minutes), the server prints out some errors out passivation, such as:

13:42:39,593 FATAL [RegularObjectPersister] error
java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException

What's strange is that they don't seem to reference any classes I have created - there are errors such as:

Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/jaxen/VariableContext

They don't really seem to be affecting the performance of my application, but I'm not 100% sure of that and I'm trying to get to the root of this problem. There are messages in there about the serial persister so I'm guessing it's something in jaxen that cannot be serialized.

Any thoughts on this topic? Thanks!

Are you accessing xml file in passivation process using jaxen?
If yes then remove that sinnpet and try,

I feel that XML maipulation is not thread safe and becuase of that InvocationException is occuring.

I am actually not accessing any XML code at all, and I am not using Jaxen - that's why this is so strange. I think there were some other errors about log4j as well (and other org.apache services) - but I am not using that either.
